3 ways to make contact with your spirit animal
Spirit animals are incredible creatures that have so much to teach us about life and the world around us.
The more that we know about them the more we can learn from them. However, they are not a book to be studied, they are a spirit with whom we can build a relationship.
If you are someone who does not know what a spirit animal is or perhaps you are yet to discover your own spirit animal then read this guide to finding your spirit animal before moving on.
You may find yourself wondering how you can build a deeper connection between you and your spirit animal. Well, you have come to the right place. Today, we are going to show you three ways in which you can do this.
#1 – Take your dreams seriously
Before we start to actively seek out our spirit animals, they most commonly visit us in our dreams.
Many people brush dreams off as nothing more than our minds running crazy while we sleep. But, they are so much more and should be taken more seriously.
Many ancient cultures knew the importance of dreams, including the Native Americans, from whom we get the phrase spirit animals.
If you want to get closer to your spirit animals then you should take note of the animals you dream about and what they are trying to tell you. Especially if your spirit animal appears in your dreams.
#2 – Meditate on your spirit animal
Many different religions and spiritual practitioners use meditation to achieve spiritual growth – it is a very powerful tool.
If you want to learn more about your spirit animal and get to know them better then you should consider mediating.
People who are more experienced with meditation will find that as they empty their minds they are able to communicate with their spirit animal and gain a better understanding of them. They may even be able to meditate on a particular problem they are facing and they will receive advice from their spirit animals.
However, meditation is not an easy activity at first – it is an art that needs to be mastered and the only way to do that is to practice.
When you first start trying to meditate on your spirit animal, try to focus on one element of their character. For example, if your spirit animal is a bear then you may want to meditate on the concept of bravery.
You may find it helpful to try and visualize yourself as your spirit animal as you meditate. To use the example of a bear again – think about what it would feel like to be a bear walking through a forest, swimming in a lake, or fishing for food. If you need more bravery, try to imagine yourself as a mama bear defending her cubs.
This activity will give you a greater insight into your spirit animal and its actions.
#3 – Harness the power of journaling
Journaling is another really powerful tool that can help you to deepen your spiritual practice and to build a connection with your spirit animal.
There are a few different journaling techniques that you can use to build a connection with your spirit animal.
You could try the visualization technique mentioned above but as a journal entry – this is especially useful if you are not very good at meditation.
You should try to reflect on your past experiences with animals, particularly animals that are the same species as your spirit animal. Right now all of these interactions and think about what they have taught you. You may find yourself viewing these interactions in a different way than before – this is probably your spirit animal trying to tell you something.
Finally, you can try the open question technique.
This involves you writing out a question in your journal and then writing an answer without thinking. You will find that most of the time you come up with an answer that you were not at all expecting. You will also notice that a lot of these answers will be in line with the way your spirit animal thinks.
This is a simple exercise, but it gives you a chance to make space for your spirit animal to communicate with you.
The most important thing to remember is to trust your spirit animal when a message gets through to you and to try and act on any advice it gives you.
