If you are a man who has never lived with a woman before and are planning on or thinking about moving in with a girlfriend/significant other for the first time, you may be excited, nervous, or a combination of the two. Regardless of how you are feeling, there are going to be some small changes you may have to make, and some things that will be a little different about your home life, for better or for worse. Here are 3 things that may happen when you move in with your girlfriend.
Your Drains Will Get Clogged More Often
Women often shed more hair than men do, whether because of their longer hair, hair extensions, or just generally the products they tend to use on their hair. You might find yourself having to replace your drain stopper or install a new bathtub stopper soon after your girlfriend moves in with you, and don’t be surprised if that happens. Many a fight has been caused between couples over hair plugging up the drain! Don’t let that happen to you!
Your Place Will Be More Decorated
Not to stereotype too heavily here, but women tend to be just a little more focused on interior design than men do. If you go over to a single man’s home, you may notice that there doesn’t seem to be a cohesive look, or that there isn’t a lot of art on the walls, etc. People may comment, upon seeing this, that the man “needs a woman’s touch”. If you are one of these types of men who aren’t great at decorating or don’t necessarily care about it, one positive side effect you might notice when your girlfriend moves in with you is that your place will be more decorated!
You See The Real Them
Even if you have been dating for a long time, you don’t really know someone until you live with them for a while. Living together, you will see your girlfriend at her worst, but you will also have the opportunity to be the one who is there for her when she needs love the most. Just be prepared to see her in a light you may never have seen her in before you moved in together. And remember that it goes both ways! She will finally be seeing the real you, too.
Moving in with a partner for the first time can be a little scary, but in the long run it is also a beautiful thing. You will truly have someone on your team at all times, no matter what life happens to throw your way, and that’s awesome! Just be ready because there will be a few changes to your lifestyle when you move in with your girlfriend. But hopefully this list helps with that!
